Chapter I: The Real Me
Winter was never this ominous, or at least that was how the young man saw it.
He slowly lit up a cigarette and proceeded on watching the scenery that was taking place in front of him. He could smell the excrement from homeless dogs and maybe even humans. That didn’t disgust him much, well not as much as seen the typical love couples.
The reason for the detestation towards the couples wasn’t because he didn’t have one. The hell he had many girls going after him, not that he wanted to be narcissistic, nor because they were displaying their public affection at a superior point, which was completely rated R. But the real reason was…
“Aki-san! We are going off to eat, want to come?” the bassist looked away from his personal theater and his eyes traveled towards Mao.
“Hai.” He stood up and took one last glance at the couples as he threw his cigarette to the floor.
“Aki, what were you doing over there?” the drummer Kei asked as he put his arm around Aki’s shoulder.
“Ne, where you eavesdropping? You little pervert!” Mizuki teased as he slowly punched with his elbow Aki’s stomach.
“Ie.” Aki said as he walked in complete silence towards the restaurant, he looked at the sky, “I was just thinking.”
Everyone ‘mmmm’ in symphony as Aki responded.
Aki was never a great conversationalist. Nor was he easy to talk to. But somehow his mere presence was enough for the band members. His aura was rather strong, but at the same time dark. It seemed like he was hiding something.
And that somehow attracted the guys. He was the definition of cool and mysterious.
“Aki-san, we found some girls we can hang out with. Aren’t you excited?” Mizuki said as he captured Aki’s glance. He was hoping Aki would nod and smile, but that was far away from reality, specially the part of the smile.
Aki growled, and sighed, “I am not really a fanatic of this hook up parties.” Mizuki stared at him hoping he would at least say he was excited.
He looked at the dumbfounded faces of his fellow band mates, “My definition of excitement is not really focused on my genitals.” Mizuki’s smirk washed out slowly at his cold words.
“Aki, we don’t mean it in that way. We just want you to have a good time.” Mao said trying to make the situation better and cheer up Mizuki.
“I know.” Aki heave a sigh as he realized the good intensions of his friends, “I just don’t find girls’ conversations pleasing.” Aki looked away and mumbled silently, “nor their presence”
“You will have a good time I guarantee. If not I will buy you a new bass.” Tsurugi reassured as he patted Aki’s back signaling him to go inside the restaurant. Aki found the offer tempting and gave in.
He walked slowly, with his friends following close behind. His throat had a knot and he wasn’t able to focus on the silhouettes of the five girls sitting at the table. He was perhaps getting a winter cold?
As he came closer he examined them better.
White perfect skin, colored contacts, short tight-skirts, exaggerated application of perfume, and of course squeaky voice.
This is indeed going to be a long night.

“Mother, please forgive my revelry and insane behavior.” The girl said as she bowed down. She rolled her eyes before looking up to her uptight mother.
“Rei-chan, you need to understand I do this for your own good.” The mother put the belt away and looked at the girl. Her flesh was bright red and was covered in red blood.
“I understand okasan.”
She hissed at the burn of alcohol making contact with her injuries. She often felt like cleaning her injuries was a bigger punishment than making them. This was not unusual however she still couldn’t get used to it.
Rei, she was surely the black sheep of the family. Or at least that was how her mother saw her. This time the punishment was for refusing to help her brother prepare the dinner because she was busy practicing guitar. But her excuses weren’t important or significant, they were just sins.
“Now go wash your hands and go to your room.”
“Hai, okasan.” She stood up trembling; she could smell the blood on her back that was already reaching her ass. Her respiration was rather fast, she could feel the cold sweat running down her forehead.
“At least she wasn’t so harsh today.” Rei mumbled as she threw herself on the bed.
Every time she took a deep breath she could feel the pain, as if a thousand sharp knives stab her heart.
She stood still and looked outside the window.
She heard her stomach growled and slapped it slowly in response, “Shut it, okasan sent us here without eating.”
She looked around and whispered, “Just hang in there a little.”
She looked at the clock…What’s taking her so long?
She made her way to the chiffonier and examined her looks. Rei saw her pale face, she knew it was a pleasant face, it wasn’t ugly yet it wasn’t too gorgeous either.
She was trapped in a fake image, in order to please her mother.
Rei glanced at her reflection, the hideous grey turtle neck sweater and the long black sweat pants. Her hair was perfectly tied into a ponytail
That’s not me…
Soon a knock on the door made her rushed to the window forgetting completely about her pain.
She jumped on her bed and grabbed a history opening it on a random page. She could feel her mother coming and informing her about the guest coming to pick her up.
“Rei-chan, Sakura is here.” She looked at Rei as if trying to see if she had done anything mischievous.
“Hai okasan. Me and her are planning on going to the temple to pray like every Friday.”
She smiled; she knew the routine perfectly of them going to pray. Or at least she thought she knew.
“Are you going to sleepover with her.” She said with a smile as if not asking but telling her.
Hypocrite Rei nodded sheepishly and bowed to her, “May I also stay with her Saturday?”
“Why?” she started tapping her fingers on the chiffonier.
“Her parents want me plant trees with them.” Her mother raised an eyebrow, “It’s for our mother nature okasan.”
Rei knew that was her Achilles Heel. She sighed and walked away.
Rei was soon covered with a smile of happiness. She knew her mother had said yes, of course in her own way. She brushed her hair slowly and looked at her once more pale face and smiled. This is not me

“Hai, I will take good care of her. Don’t you worry about a thing.” Sakura said as she waved goodbye to Rei’s mother. Rei looked up at the sky, and saw the beauty of it. She always felt so free when she was outside her mother’s house.
She examined Sakura who had similar, if not the same, outfit as her.
“Where’s the stuff?” Rei asked with a grin as she caressed Sakura’s wig.
Sakura took off the fake brown wig revealing her black hair with pink highlights.
“My house, we have 30 minutes.”
Rei ran to Sakura’s house, she was about to become her real self.

Rei looked at her bruises and shrug off those painful memories. She soon put on the strapless bra and walked outside the restroom.
She saw on the bed the blue and black corset along with a black miniskirt, and the long converse that reached up to her knees.
“Are you going to be with someone tonight, Sakura?”
Sakura walked out with a similar outfit as Rei, “Only if luck strikes me.”
Rei chuckled and saw her reflection on the mirror. This time the image was transformed.
She liked what she saw, she liked her black bangs covering half of her face, she liked to expose almost half of her body, and most certainly she liked to go against her mother’s will.
“Well off to pray Sakura.” Rei smiled as she put on her snake bites piercing.
“Let’s hit and quit it!” Sakura said with a grin as they jumped out the window. Her parents must be drunk by now and her brother must know what to do when Rei’s mom called.
This is me. Rei thought as she glanced at the room before jumping out the window.
